Kiss 100 profile

Kiss 100 is an English-language music and entertainment station owned by Radio Africa Group. It broadcasts in Nairobi on 100.3 FM from the group's offices at Lion Place.

It was Radio Africa's first station. Founders Patrick Quarcoo and William Pike launched it in 2000, then built a wider stable that includes Classic 105 and Radio Jambo.

For years Kiss was the group's flagship. Radio World reported in 2016 that it targeted middle-income teenagers and young adults with urban hits, house and early homegrown hip hop. It won loyalty partly by paying listeners cash, not prizes, in on-air quizzes and competitions. As that audience grew older, listenership declined and Radio Africa began putting Classic 105 at the front of its strategy.

The breakfast show has long been among Kenyan radio's best-known slots. Caroline Mutoko hosted it for a long spell, at times with Jalang'o and Nyambane. Kalekye Mumo and Shaffie Weru followed, then Adelle Onyango with Weru. Onyango left in 2019 after seven years.

In June 2019 Capital FM's The Sauce reported that Kamene Goro and Andrew Kibe were moving from NRG Radio to the Kiss morning show. It cited an April GeoPoll survey putting the show's reach above two million millennial listeners. Line-ups change often, so check current presenters with the station.
