Mayian FM Live

Mayian FM profile

Mayian FM is a Maa-language station for the Maasai community, run by Mediamax Network and broadcasting on 100.7 FM. Station listings give Narok as its home base, and a 2019 Kenyans.co.ke frequency list also had it on 100.7 FM.

Its slogan, 'Ewang'an olosho', translates as 'the eye of the community'. It was created to give the Maasai a station in their own language, with their music and their concerns. Programmes cover regional and national news in Maa, talk and community shows, civic education, music and culture. Land rights are a recurring theme, with shows that help listeners understand issues affecting their land and livelihoods.

Beyond Narok, listings place it on 100.7 FM in Kilgoris, 100.6 FM in Kajiado, and 100.5 FM in Samburu, Laikipia and Baringo. That covers the Maasai heartland of southern Kenya and parts of the wider Rift Valley.

Sister stations in the Mediamax stable include Kameme FM, Milele FM, Meru FM and Emoo FM. Mediamax's broadcasting licences are registered under TV Africa Kenya Holdings, which is associated with the Kenyatta family, and Mediamax Network Ltd manages the stations. Launch date and presenters could not be confirmed.
