Minto FM profile
Minto FM is the Ekegusii-language regional station of the state-owned Kenya Broadcasting Corporation. KBC lists it on 101.7 FM in the Kisii region, and the corporation's Wikipedia entry dates its launch to 2011.
It was one of KBC's new 2011 vernacular stations, with Nosim FM, Kitwek FM, Mwago FM and Mayienga FM. Mwatu FM and Ingo FM followed in 2012. The rollout was the state broadcaster's bid to win back regional audiences lost to private vernacular radio.
Minto FM serves Gusii listeners in the Kisii region with news, public information, music and community programming in Ekegusii. Private Ekegusii rivals include Royal Media's Egesa FM.
KBC is a state corporation set up under Cap 221 of the Laws of Kenya, headquartered on Harry Thuku Road in Nairobi. Sister services include Radio Taifa, KBC English Service, the Eastern and Western Services, Coro FM and Pwani FM. Current presenters and shows are unconfirmed.
