Ramogi FM is a Dholuo-language station owned by Royal Media Services, broadcasting in Nairobi on 107.1 FM. Royal Media calls it Kenya's leading Dholuo station, with the highest reach and share of listening in the Lake Region.
Its slogan, 'Kar Chuny Jaluo', means 'the desires of the Luo', and programmes centre on Luo identity, culture and values. A 2015 Music in Africa profile put the core audience at mature men and women aged roughly 20 to 45 and above, served with news, sport, interactive talk shows and a mix of benga and lingala. Royal Media says it also appeals beyond its primary Luo audience to anyone who follows Dholuo music and culture.
Outside Nairobi it is on 107.6 FM in Kisumu, 98.4 FM in Siaya, 97.0 FM in Homa Bay, 95.4 FM and 98.6 FM in Migori, 99.2 FM in Mombasa and 95.4 FM in Nakuru. Sister stations include Radio Citizen and Inooro FM, and Royal Media also runs Ramogi TV.
Weekdays open with Kogwen (5am to 10am), the current affairs flagship. Then come the mid-morning Wang Onyango, youth show Donse Donse, drive show Mos Gi Tich and the evening Ang'ich Welo. Weekend highlights include Kogalo Time, a weekly magazine on Gor Mahia football club, the nostalgic Benga Ramogi, the Sabbath programme Kogwen Sabato and Wapuonjre Dholuo, a Sunday show for learning the language.
